Divya has been tremendously helpful for me and my whole family. We first began working together to evaluate my then 18 mo old son. I had suffered from postpartum depression, and "mommy-itis". I just didn't enjoy being a mom.

I’ve known Divya on many levels including her role as a leader in the community to help parents and caregivers understand social and emotional wellness and as a counselor. She encouraged me to get him evaluated for speech therapy which subsequently helped to improve my relationship with him. She was like a “mommy coach” which was what I needed, as I had zero experience with children and had no clue what I was doing. She helped me to understand what was normal, and what I should be paying attention to, and provided a safe place to talk about how I felt and my long standing depression.

I had seen other therapists. But they were not as impactful. Even my husband began seeing her. She assisted us in our communication with each other. And helped him look at his own anger issues towards his mother. Our number one priority was to be good parents to our son, and she helped us see that we needed to work on our own issues with ourselves, each other, and our parents in order to be the best parents we could be. Divya works in many ways and understands that what one client may need, another may not. For example, my husband and I are very different (I am very analytical and he is more expressive) and so she used different methods for each of us. He says, “it was like talking to a friend who had actual good/sound advice.”

What I appreciated most about Divya was her open manner, directness, and practical suggestions. She didn’t just listen to me drone on and on about my problems, but participated in a conversation with me. And called me on certain things and gently nudged me to see things a different way, but also backed off when I said I was not ready to look. Thank you Divya for being such a tremendous support for our whole family when we were going through our very difficult time.
